Face to Facebook

I'm sure that by know you all know that I lost my job in March. And I'm sure you all know that I wasn't heartbroken after the shock wore off, I hated that place. That said, I've had a lot of free time to mess around online and a lot of that time is spent on Facebook. I love it because I get to see lots of pictures of my three favorite men, Kyler, Kasen, and Dylan, whom I've adopted as my "nephews." I love that I get to hear about the day to day happenings in the Threatt household even though they happen to be in Texas. I keep tabs on the happenings of the Anderlik-Henthorne clan too, I'd hate to miss anything that their handsome little guy is up to. And of course I'm thankful that I was able to "talk" with my best friend Jennifer almost daily while she was deployed on the USS Nimitz for the past 9 months. For those reasons, I'm very thankful to have Facebook.

However, over the past month or so, I have often caught myself "stalking" the pages of people that I don't really know. Yeah, maybe we went to the same high school, and maybe we used to work for the same company, but do I really know most of these people? Not really, or not at all. Do I care that so-and-so gets puking drunk every weekend? No. And I really don't care to see the pictures to prove it, thank you. I decided to take a real look at my 300+ "friends" and see how many of them I'm REALLY friends with. Needless to say, more than half of the people on my friends list I probably wouldn't say hi to if I ran into them, if I even recognized them at all. Now, I'm not saying that I plan on removing my connection with everyone save my 10 best friends, I'm saying that I'm don't need, or want, to keep up with what the-girl-that-was-three-grades-ahead-of-me -in-school-that-I-only-talked-to-once is doing. I didn't know those people then and most of them I don't know now. So for my own piece of mind, I'm going to do a little spring cleaning on FB. Something tells me that I won't even notice that those connections are gone.
